YOVASO Takes a Stand Against Bullying for Bullying Prevention Month
LHS kicked off the 2017 Save Your Tailgate Campaign by bringing awareness to Anti- Bullying. On Monday, October 2nd, Liberty High School's YOVASO members made sure everyone around campus had a sticker that symbolized YOVASO's stance against bullying. We also got the opportunity to share what YOVASO is all about to students who were not familiar with the message of YOVASO.

Why do Liberty High School students participate in YOVASO? Is this important to them or are they just doing it because they have to? According to Nathan Dowdy, YOVASO is more than just a high school club. Nathan Dowdy brought three trucks to Liberty High School on Tuesday, October 3rd to support the Save your Tailgate Campaign. According to Nathan, “I was asked to participate in the Save Your Tailgate Campaign with bringing trucks to LHS. As a proud LHS student, I was glad to be a part of something that has impacted me personally.”

You're a "Smartie" for Buckling Up
On October 6th, Liberty High School went to Bedford Elementary School to promote buckling up for the Save Your Tailgate Campaign. Drivers who were buckled up were given a smartie's candy for, of course, being a "smartie" and buckling up. Drivers who were not buckled up were asked to buckle up and then given a smartie's candy. Everyone had a blast with this event and got the chance to influence the community.

On October 12th, the LHS and the middle school YOVASOs worked together to advocate how important buckling up is. Similar to the Elementary School event, drivers who were buckled up were given a smartie's candy and drivers who were not buckled up were asked to buckle up and then given a smartie's candy. This particular event was awesome because it gave the LHS YOVASO a chance to spread the word to the community and encourage the middle school kids to get more involved with YOVASO.

Save Your Tailgate...Tailgate
Liberty's YOVASO went out with a huge bang on October 13th for our last Save Your Tailgate Campaign event. Before the football game we had free pizza, buckle up pledges, a YOVASO banner, music, games, and the popular distracted driving course. So many people came out to the tailgate and pledged to always buckle up in the car, signed our huge YOVASO banner, and had great time! Not to mention, some students painted up with pink seatbelts for the football game to bring awareness to cancer and buckling up. We were so excited to share this with our community and shine a positive light onto YOVASO.
