We are a club that is devoted to specializing in traffic safety and the importance of being educated about the road. Many teens fall victim to the unforgiving statistics of injury or death due to car accidents. Most teens aren’t even aware how easy it is to avoid these situations. Here at Liberty High School in Bedford, VA, we are a family. We encourage our classmates to be safe. We host tailgates, participate in pep rallies, compete in the annual Christmas Parade, as well as in statewide campaigns with the hope of educating our peers on the importance of driver safety. This past year Liberty has had more people interested in our YOVASO chapter than ever before. Our club has over 100 members and everyone is involved in doing their part to get our message out there. We always do it the right way, do it the safe way, and do it everyday! Now it’s your turn, and we’d like to help.

Meet Our Team
Morgann Dills
2017-2018 President |
My name is Morgann Dills and I am a senior at Liberty High School. I have been a member of YOVASO since I was in 7th grade, and this year I am our chapter's President. This is my fifth year of being apart of YOVASO. As the President, I want to join other clubs and activities to bring awareness to move parents and teens about traffic safety. Traffic safety effects everyone even, if you're the passenger or the diver, and the less distractions, the less likely the car will be involved in a crash. The more we, as a club, get our message across, the more lives we could potentially save. I am very active in our club campaigns such as Reaper Day, the Egg Race, the Christmas Parade, tailgates, and YOVASO training days. YOVASO is very important to me. I want to spread awareness to teenage drivers about how precious our lives are. Wearing a seat belt is an easy decision that can save your life.

Savannah Willis
2017-2018 Vice President |
Hello! My name is Savannah Willis, I am a senior at Liberty High School and I am currently your 2017-2018 Vice President. This is my second year as a member of our YOVASO club and although it’s only been two years, it feels like I’ve been a part of it for a really long time because of how much I have accomplished within and because of the club. My goal as Vice President is to make the faculty, staff, and students of Liberty High School aware of how dangerous it is to drive when distracted, intoxicated, and emotional. I believe wholeheartedly that having YOVASO clubs across the state of Virginia does save lives and I am so proud to be a part of something as special as this club.

Maddy Clark
2017-2018 Secretary |
My name is Maddy Clark. I am a sophomore at Liberty High School and the secretary of the YOVASO club. I have been a member of YOVASO since 7th grade and have known and participated in the club's activities since my dad started working at LHS in 2012 as the SRO. I am also a member of Liberty High School's Champions Together , Key Club, and tennis team. As the secretary, I want to help spread the word about driving safety and how important young lives are. Seat belts are one of the biggest lifesavers and I want to make sure my peers are using them.

Emilie Fowler
2017-2018 Treasurer |
My name is Emilie Fowler and I am a senior at Liberty High School. I have been a member of YOVASO all four years of high school and have been Treasurer for the past two years. I am extremely excited to be your 2017-2018 Treasurer because I know we will influence not only the school but the community as well. We have and will continue to help promote safe driving and I'm glad I get the chance to be a part of that.

Delaney Snead
2017-2018 Historian |
My name is Delaney Snead and I am a senior at Liberty High School. I have been apart of YOVASO my whole high school career and finally get to be your 2017-2018 YOVASO Historian. To me, YOVASO is one of the most influential clubs in high school that everyone should take part in. Throughout the years, YOVASO has impacted the way I drive immensely and has stressed that seat belts do save lives and drinking and driving can harm more people than just yourself. As Historian, I am excited to share our campaigns and meaning of the club with the community.

Sydney Dills
2017-2018Community Laison |
My name is Sydney Dills and I am a sophomore at Liberty High School. I have been a member of YOVASO since I was in 7th grade and this year I am the Community Laison for the YOVASO club. I pay volleyball, basketball, and softball. I am also very active with our school. I love YOVASO and I want to spread the word about safe driving and ways to avoid bad situations. Being in an officer position gives me a lot more involvement in this club and allows me to be a leader of the club and to also help share the word and get others involved in YOVASO. Making sure you do the little things right can help save lives.

Corporal Daniel Clark
Faculty Advisor |
I have been the School Resource Officer (SRO) at LHS for just over 5 years. My job as SRO is one of the most rewarding positions I have ever been in. I enjoy working with students of all ages every day. Being an SRO at the High School level affords me the opportunity to help organize and facilitate an awesome club called YOVASO. As a YOVASO representative on the school campus I feel it is my job to set the standard by being the example. The LHS YOVASO club has grown substantially over the past few years, and I wholeheartedly believe it's because of the school spirit of the members this club. We are growing from the ground level and we plan on soaring to new heights over the next few years.

Ms. Julie Lundgren
Faculty Advisor |
When Officer Clark asked me, "Hey Ms. Julie! I was talking to Dr. Kathy Dills [our principal] about another Faculty Advisor for YOVASO and I instantly thought, oh my gosh, we need Julie Lundgren! So will you do it?" I am embarassed to admit that my school spirit made me say yes without even knowing what YOVASO even stood for. As I did some more digging I realized three things: 1. YOVASO is a statewide, peer-to-peer advocacy program about driver safety with an important mission. 2. Too much of our community, on and off campus, does not know what YOVASO is, and 3. I wanted to be apart of this mission because this is something I am passionate about. I am excited to see how this club will grow and succeed. I enjoy standing on top of tables during meetings, in the rain during tail gates, and running in the snow with our 5K runners. Being with students who are just as dedicated and passionate about the safety and education of their peers, new drivers is inspiring. YOU'RE THE KEY TO DRIVER SAFETY!

I first got involved in YOVASO about four years ago. I've always been a safe driving advocate - I was really good at telling my mom to stop speeding when I was five years old. Things took a more serious turn in high school. I lost several friends due to car crashes, and several more after we graduated. I started teaching in 2009 and told my homeroom students to drive safely because the stats said that at least one of them wouldn't make it to graduation four years later. Unfortunately, I was right. Enough was enough! Funeral homes aren't where I want to spend my evenings. When the opportunity to co-sponsor YOVASO came up, I gladly accepted. I do this to save lives! I am tired of losing friends and students to car accidents. Buckle your butt up superheroes, and save some lives!

2016-2017 Team
Delaney Parker
2016-2017 President |
My name is Delaney Parker. I am a senior at Liberty High School and I currently preside as the President of the Liberty High School YOVASO program. I have been a member of this organization since my freshman year. I joined this group because I wanted to impact my school and my community in a big way. So many students and families are affected by car accidents every day and I have made it my personal mission to try and make that number smaller. I want everyone to know how beneficial it is to wear your seatbelt, to go the speed limit, to not use your phone, and to not drink and drive. Everyone's life is important and if our organization continues to voice our mission, I honestly believe that we can save lives.

Luke Hunziker
2016-2017 Vice President |
I am Luke Randolph Hunziker, Vice President of the Liberty High School YOVASO chapter and third year member. I am turned 18 this February. I hunt and fish as well as play middle infield for the LHS baseball team. I have also contributed to the two awesome wins in our 2016 football season. I want my classmates to know how much YOVASO means to me. I have enjoyed the experience over the last three years. It was a great honor to be a part of the WIN of the 2015 Christmas Parade float and the success of The Color Run. I fully intend to participate in all the great activities this year as well.

2016-2017 Treasurer |
My name is Emilie Fowler and I am a junior here at Liberty. I'm a part of Key club, NHS, the varsity girls soccer team, and of course an active member in YOVASO. Out of all my activities, I believe that YOVASO can impact the most students. I am proud to be this year’s treasurer because I think that it's the best way I can help the club. An officer position allows me to understand even more about the club than I did before. It seems that everyone knows someone whose life has been impacted because of traffic incidents. Seat belts save lives.

Savannah Willis
2016-2017 Historian |
I’m Savannah Willis and I’m a junior here at Liberty. I am the 2016-2017 YOVASO Historian. Pictures, to me, are worth more than any words can explain because they capture the emotion that you can't recreate. YOVASO is a big part of my life. I want it to matter to more people. No one ever wants to lose a family member or a friend to a distracted driver. Together, we can take a stand against distracted driving.
